The PEP CD and Microsoft Vista
Microsoft has recently released their new operating system, Windows Vista, with many new features and changes. As Windows Vista was not available when we were developing Version 6 and thus Vista was not on the supported operating system list, we have a more limited capacity to offer Technical Support - per the Terms and Conditions on which products were sold.
Some change since the Vista operating system have created complications. The PEP CD will, however, run on VISTA, provided the following points are considered when attempting to install and then license the disc:
Vista has security built in to protect files in the Program Files folder hierarchy, and the License File (LCF) is one of those files. [The Folio Rights Browser and Folio aren't seeing the "right" file. Without the changes below a user will only see a "cached" copy of it.]
To get round this a user needs to install the PEP A1v6 to a different folder as follows:
1) If the customer is already installed, they need to
a) uninstall PEP A1v6
b) delete the Program Files => PEP Archive 1v6 folder
2) Now install from the CD (again), but during the install, specify the folder to install it to as:
a) c:\PEP\PEPA1v6
Everything, except running the help files, is then the same as on earlier Windows operating systems. The HELP files do not work because Microsoft has changed the way they work. To get the help files to work, users need go to this link and download and install winhlp32.exe:

To make things easier, PEP is in the process of converting the HLP files on the disc to the new CHM (Compiled HTML Help). This will be available for download here in the next ten days.
For the purpose of running PEP Archive program A1v6 we do not advise customers to attempt to install VISTA on top of previous operating systems on an old computer.
