Logging On

PEPLiteratureSearch is a free online search facility which allows a user to search the FULL TEXT of the content of the most recent PEP Web Archive. The Archive contains important psychoanalytic books and correspondence - including Freud's correspondence with his major collaborators as well as the leading psychoanalytic journals in English. In the case of journals the Archive is always about three years behind the current volumes. However PEPLiteratureSearch also examines and searches the full text of the more recent content of many of these Journals - their CURRENT CONTENT, which is updated regularly.

You do not need to log on to Free Search or (in many cases) to view abstracts.

You do need to log on to view full text. To log on you must either have a valid subscription (yourself or via your organization) or be willing to purchase the right to view the particular article (if available). Subscriptions are available for PEP Web or the Current Content of individual journals separately.

  • If you are trying to view full text through a computer with an IP address registered with a university or similar organization (or through a secure server page) with a subscription then when you get to http://www.pep-web.org there should be an indication "Log Out" on top right of your screen. You need do nothing more. Please remember to log out when you have finished.

  • If you are a member of an Institution which subscribes go to this address: http://www.pep-web.org Click "Login" which you will see at the top right of your screen, just to the left of Freud's picture. The Login page will display. In the Login box put your user name and your unique password. Once you have entered your user name and password and clicked the Login box you will know you are logged in because Login at the top right of the screen will have changed to Logout.
  • If you have a direct username and password for the site use the box provided.

If you believe you should be able to log on but are unable to do so, please consult the librarian or other official at your institution. Click here for full details of PEP's subscription offers.
