How to use the PEP Help Manual

     The PEP HELP Window

You are now in the PEP Help window which is displayed on your screen. By clicking the left button on your mouse when the cursor is placed on the maximize and minimize buttons at the top right side of the PEP Help window Title bar, you can increase the size of the display to Full Screen, or reduce it to an Icon. You may also alter the size of the PEP Help window by left clicking on the edge of the window and dragging it while holding down the left mouse button, to the size that you want.

While reading the text you may scroll through the text with the arrow keys on your keyboard. A faster way is to use the PgUp, and PgDn keys to scroll the text one page at a time.

     PEP HELP Menu Buttons

At the top of this PEP Help window on a Menu Bar are push buttons marked Contents, Index, Back, Print etc.

The Contents push buttons returns you to the main table of contents. The Index push buttons is used to search for a word or topic in this help file. (As a shortcut you may access these by pressing the C or I keys on your keyboard.)

The PEP Help is divided into Topics as found in the Contents. Each Topic may be printed out by clicking the left mouse button when your cursor is placed on the Print tab at the top of the PEP Help Window. (Shortcut - press the P keys on keyboard). Once in a topic you may see some text in color; this is a hypertext link or a link to another part of the Manual. If you place your cursor on the colored text the cursor changes to the shape of a hand and left-clicking the mouse will cause you to jump to the text it is linked to. Sometimes the link is to a Pop Up Window i.e., a box which opens up with information in it. Once in the Pop up Window, clicking the mouse button again (or pressing the Esc key) will return you to the original place.

The arrow buttons (<< and >>)at the top of this screen are to move to the next or previous topic. You may also move to the previous topic by clicking the Back tab.

How to switch between PEP Help and PEP Archive in Folio Views

This Manual may be run at the same time as you are using Folio Views to research the PEP archives. Keep both windows open so you can work through the examples using the PEP Archive.

You may move from this Manual to Folio Views (after it has been installed and is running) by switching between the two programs. To do this, Minimise this PEP Help window and then start Folio Views. Once in Folio Views you may switch between this program and the PEP Help Manual by pressing the ALT and TAB keys together. Important - Please make sure that you have only this PEP Help and Folio Views running, else using Alt Tab will take you to the other programs as well.
