How to enable the PEP CD for use on a single computer

Note: This activation process is only done AFTER you purchase a license. If you have not already purchased a license, contact one of the PEP Sales offices listed on the printed materials accompanying the CD-ROM or click here to order the PEP CD.

This process activates a Single User, Single Computer License (SUSC License). This fee-based license enables you to use the PEP CD-ROM on a single computer for the lifetime of the license.

What to have ready before activating your licence

1. Your name and the address to which you asked PEP to send the disc.
2. Your PEP Subscription ID (SID) (Note: this is very helpful, but not required as we can verify you in the database if you provide other order information).

Deciding whether to activate by phone or email

Email: The email method is convenient and avoids a phone call to the PEP Registration Centre but requires you to leave your computer running with the License Program running until you hear back from PEP (in this mode you can still use your computer to run other programs). This could take 24 hours - if you inadvertently close the license activation dialog or shut down your computer before the procedure is complete you will have to start all over again (including re-requesting the license activation by email). If this method presents a problem, use the telephone activation option.

Phone: The phone method requires calling during customer service hours. It allows you to speak with, and be guided by, a customer service agent. However, there are alphanumeric activation codes that must be read over the phone and keyed in by both the service representative, and the customer. These keys are more easily exchanged by email; so providing you understand the caveats to using email, that could be the best way to license.

Preliminary steps to activate your license

Initially you follow the same procedure whether you intend to license by email or telephone. You need to perform these steps on the computer where you are planning to run the PEP Archive 1 CD-ROM.

1. Locate an icon (or menu item) that was installed with the startup icon for your PEP Archive which is called:

License the PEP Archive.

This runs a program called "Folio Rights Browser", in which you can activate the license you have purchased.

2. Run the license activation program by double clicking the "License the PEP Archive" icon or menu option.
