Differences between the PEP DVD and PEP Web
There are several differences to be aware of between the PEP DVD and PEP Web. Most importantly, even with similar syntax you may find different articles match whenever you use any kind of advanced searches, including paragraph searching, thesaurus and stemming. These differences typically reflect different internal strategies for searching between the two systems.

Need to own a subscription before searching. |
Free full-text search of the entire archive. Results show only the first few paragraphs or the abstract without a subscription. Full text results are available by subscription |
Table of contents and browsing |
The DVD has more versatility in viewing and browsing various functions. Quick Access takes you right to Table of Authors, Journals, Books, Figures, Tables, and Abstracts. |
The Table of Contents is accessed by selecting the Journals, Books or Author Tabs. Each category is viewed and browsed separately, rather than seeing a hierarchally arranged tree that expands showing all titles. |
Paragraph searching |
For the most part (there are exceptions), a paragraph is defined the same as the typographical paragraphs you see. |
A paragraph in a search is defined as a 25 word proximity. It does not imply that the results will be in the same typographical paragraph. |
